Success Story: Aramark, International Centre for Business and Technology
BETTER LIVING FOR:
Employee Restaurant, International Centre for Business & Technology, BP
INTELLIGENT APPLIANCE USED:
Urban Cultivator XL
BETTER PARTNER: Gemma Banks, Account Manager, Restaurant Design Association
BP has set its stall out as a “greening company” – they are open about not being lower carbon as we speak and at the same time are determined to accelerate progress with clear net zero ambitions. That’s why the design brief for the facelift of the catering and hospitality space at their International Centre for Business and Technology in Sunbury was driven with sustainability at its heart.
An environment to help improve
the lives and health of BP employees.
With the catering area managed by leading hospitality specialist Aramark working in partnership with award-winning design consultancy RDA, every aspect of the project was focused on creating an environment to help improve the lives and health of BP employees.
The Urban Cultivator XL takes centre stage in the open plan kitchen and restaurant. Head Chef, Paul Rodgers, and his team work actively with their self-grown produce tailored to their menus and bring their passion for serving others to the next level. The 3500 employees passing through daily can experience fresh, nutritious organic microgreens and herbs harvested right in front of their eyes.
“With conscious consideration of every material and product included on this project, this hydroponic solution allowed us to truly bring to life a wholly sustainable culture where delicious fresh food is the focal point within our design.”
Gemma Banks, Account Manager at RDA commented, ‘Finding the Urban Cultivator hit the spot for a smart solution as requested by the Culture and Transformation team at BP looking for ways to enhance the wellbeing of employees and reduce the environmental footprint throughout the project and beyond. With conscious consideration of every material and product included on this project, this hydroponic solution allowed us to truly bring to life a wholly sustainable culture where delicious fresh food is the focal point within our design.’
She continues, ‘We’re excited that this intelligent appliance can help a business reduce its food miles by actually enabling them to grow their own produce on site.’
